TCA Handbook Conference

Tile Council of North America is pleased to announce the TCA Handbook Committee will discuss and vote on proposed Handbook changes June 22-23, 2010 at a meeting hosted by Georgia-Pacific Corporation in Atlanta, GA.

For the first time, natural stone installation details will be included in the TCA Handbook.

Below are some additional proposed updates to the Handbook:

  • New explanatory sections regarding ceramic tile, grout, glass tile, sustainability, and wet areas
  • Inclusion of ISO criteria for grouts and mortars
  • Emphasis on clarity and consistency
  • Addition of membrane options, effect on performance, and appropriate grouts and mortars
  • Separate above-ground installation requirements
  • Increased emphasis on substrate tolerances for thin-bed methods

The TCA Handbook committee is comprised of a cross-section of industry experts who volunteer their time towards the development of the Handbook. The committee is made up of representatives from all sectors of the industry – manufacturers, labor, architects, engineers, consultants, and end users.

The changes approved in this meeting will be reflected in the 2011 TCA Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation, (48th edition), which will be available in early 2011. For more information on ordering the current version (2010 Handbook), contact Tile Council at 864-646-8453.
