2010 Ceramic Tile Industry Update

Based on data available to-date (and estimating fourth quarter domestic shipments), U.S. tile consumption for 2010 was 1.97 billion sq. ft. (+6.0% vs. 2009). This was the first year-over-year increase since 2006.

2011 TCNA Handbook Now Available

The Tile Council of North America (TCNA) is pleased to announce the release of the 2011 TCNA Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation. The combined efforts of the TCNA Handbook Committee, several TCNA and NTCA technical committees, hundreds of individual contributors, and TCNA staff which invested more than 3000 hours of its time made this year’s Handbook possible. The 2011 Handbook contains the most significant additions and revisions since it was first printed in 1963.

TCNA Developing Hypoallergenic Standard

Tile has always been the natural choice for allergy sufferers, and TCNA is now proud to offer a way to validate this.  TCNA is pleased to announce it has begun the research for a hypoallergenicity standard to evaluate ceramic tile and installation products.

TCNA Mexico Update – 2011

TCNA – Mexico was created in 2005 to serve Tile Council of North America’s Mexican members, as well as U.S. and Canadian members doing business in Mexico. From its five founding members, TCNA – Mexico’s membership has grown to more than 30 companies supporting Tile Council projects in Mexico.

Certified Tile Installer (CTI) Program Update – 2010

The Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) is proud to announce the growing number of installers who have been certified through its Certified Tile Installer (CTI) program.

Launched in 2008, the CTI program addresses one of the tile industry’s greatest challenges: providing a way for consumers to identify a skilled and knowledgeable installer. The CTI program also provides a means for installers to verify their skills and promote themselves to potential clients and employers. It is the only nationally-recognized ceramic tile installer certification program that is standards-based and comprehensively evaluates hands-on skills.
