The Porcelain Tile Certification Agency (PTCA) is pleased to announce the growing number of product lines qualifying as porcelain in its certification program.

The standard on which the Green Squared^® certification program is based, ANSI A138.1, is divided into five sections. The first section, Environmental Product Characteristics, standardizes sustainable attributes such as the amount of recycled content, level of volatile organic emissions, amount of indigenous raw materials, etc.

Green Squared certification is based on the industry’s new product sustainability standard, ANSI A138.1. For a tile or installation material to be considered for certification, it must be in conformance with this standard.

Towards the close of 2011, the industry’s new standard for tile and installation material product sustainability, ANSI A138.1 was approved by the ANSI A108 Committee. Following that approval, the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) was able to move forward with its Green Squared certification program.
