Multi-Attribute Sustainability and LEED®

NAHB’s National Green Building Standard

A couple of weeks ago, the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) released draft revisions to the 2008 National Green Building Standard (NGBS). This document is out for public comment until June 11, 2012. The next version (2012) of this standard is expected to be finalized and published by the close of the year.

Incorporated Antimicrobials

The term “Antimicrobial” covers a broad range of activity by different compounds. The activities of such “Antimicrobials” vary from, killing the microorganisms, slowing the growth, inhibiting their growth, resisting their growth, and preventing biofouling. EPA classifies antimicrobial products as public health products if they control microbes which cause infections in humans and animals and as non-public health products if they only control microbes which cause infections in animals.
