Revisions to ANSI A137.1, The American National Standard for Ceramic Tile, have now been officially approved, updating version 2008 to version 2012. The 2012 edition has ground breaking updates. Most importantly, the new version includes a new testing method and requirement for coefficient of friction.

ANSI A137.1-2012 includes the DCOF AcuTestSM method and a minimum COF requirement. The DCOF AcuTest replaces ASTM C1028 as the specified method for COF testing on tile. The new specification also includes a two-page informational section (section 6.2.2.1.10), which will help specifiers better understand how to choose the right tile for every application.
