Tile Council of North America (TCNA) presented its prestigious Tile Person of the Year award to Mr. John Bruce at Coverings 2012 in Orlando, FL.

AD Tiles are handmade, one tile at a time. The French Renaissance “Revival Knight on Horse” tile mural is from their Historic Tile Series. This image was originally carved in wood by a Parisian master woodcarver circa 1875-1885. The hand pressed tile is AD Tiles’ Old London finish, which is made to emulate ancient stone carvings on buildings that one can see in London and throughout England.
Buff colored clay was used that was first hand washed and then fired to give a permanent aged patina. The outer frame is comprised of French Braided tiles, and the inner frame is of AD Tiles’ flat Profile Liners. Both are hand glazed with a semi-opaque glaze to give a masculine contrast to the old stone look of the main carved plaque. The small Pencil Liners are also hand pressed and hand glazed in a darker color for a specific contrast to the soft brown glaze of the recognition tile.
“We are very much honored to create this award for John Bruce, a long-time supporter of the tile community, in recognition of his many contributions to the defense and promotion of this most ancient craft,” stated Mr. Holm.
